among the finer things
I'd like to salute all our Veterans for the sacrifices they make, the loyalty they've shown, and the unending committment with which they defend our flag. We sit around and speculate as to whether the commander-in-chief cares that he sends our Soldiers out to do his bidding when the country doesn't want him to, but they go anyway. We question our leadership in the white house, the committment that they have to Peace, and the intelligence with which they go about the business of running the country but our Soldiers do their job anyway. Which I suppose is unerringly simple. To go, and do. The rest of us should see things in such a simple light. But that's why we have the choice, because of them, our Soldiers. Long live the United States of America, and long live our Soldiers. It may be too much to ask for the latter, but the sacrifice they make means the former will always be true. I'll never give up on the idea that we can have both Freedom and long and healthy lives for all those that stand ready to defend us; hopefully soon we'll all see their value not only in their ability to fight, but the inspiration their very existence brings to all of us. Thank you for fighting for us.
Now, I know Memorial Day is supposed to be for honoring those that lost their lives fighting for us. And certainly, we do owe them our remembrance. I also like to honor those still with us, as I believe anyone who served the USA past or present deserves my eternal respect, and its that much more satisfying to tell someone stil alive that they are appreciated, and that you don't have to die for that to happen. So while I say thank you to those around us, to all those Soldiers who died a moment of silence is in order at 3pm today. I will also play Taps as loud as my speakers will allow out my window for all in earshot to hear. I think we should all do this.
We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
